About the PPF Calculator
The Public Provident Fund (PPF) is a government-backed savings scheme with a 15-year lock-in that can be extended in blocks of 5 years. This PPF calculator shows your total deposits, interest earned and maturity value.
How to use this calculator
- Enter how much you will deposit each year, between ₹500 and ₹1.5 lakh.
- Check the interest rate. The government reviews the PPF rate every quarter, so update it if it has changed.
- Choose 15 years, or longer if you plan to extend.
- See the maturity value and the yearly balance.
Formula
Each year's deposit is added at the start of the year and interest is compounded yearly: balance = (previous balance + deposit) × (1 + rate).
Example
Depositing ₹1.5 lakh every year for 15 years at 7.1% means ₹22.5 lakh deposited and a maturity value of about ₹40.68 lakh.
